Pat Tanner III was one of the most popular authors of mid-century comic novels though you've probably never heard of him. He wrote exclusively under pseudonyms, most notably Patrick Dennis, the writer and narrator of Auntie Mame. He lived a fabulously campy life with his wife, Louise, and two children in New York City until suffering a mental breakdown as a result of residual guilt resulting from his bisexuality. Deciding self exile a better option than staying, Pat leaves for Mexico and eventually Chicago to become the butler for Roy Kroc.

The Leopard and the Lynx explores the later half of Pat and Louise's marriage from reveal of Pat's lover, Guy and subsequent breakup, to his return with news on his health. The play explores bisexuality and lavender marriages with wit and warmth.
