  • I had the pleasure of seeing The Submission performed at the Stella Adler Studio -- this play weaves tension, white lies, mistakes, piling resentments, egos, and harsh words that get so tight that the only place for it all to go is to explode in everyone's faces. I gasped many times. Beneath all the drama, Jeff Talbott has created a nuanced open discussion about race in America and in the arts, and the responsibilities and power that a storyteller takes on when they tell a story.

  • It was a joy to see this at MCC. The tongue-in-cheek satire of Reaganomics and the American perception of Soviet life is brilliantly weaved into this little girl's coming-of-age story. And with great music!

  • Wow wow wow. This play is like a piece of gooey hot fudge. I wanted to live in this world that Brasch has created forever. It is sunny, dreamy, and bright. Also, There were genuine tears rolling down my face at the end. An unapologetically gay, Jewish, funny, and loving play.

  • Sweet and tender. Like chocolate chip cookies. Andy Boyd paints a delicate and rich (like a cookie) vignette of rural Midwestern America and the growing pains between mother and teenage daughter.

  • One of the funniest things I've read this year. A brilliant, free-wheeling break in form and medium. I need to see this staged and produced immediately. I want nothing more. An experiment in decolonizing, and an experiment in notating, an experiment in language.

  • Jess Eichen: Pentheus

Andy is a genius and I'm in love with this play. She creatively re-imagines mythological figures, but more so shapes them into the perfect container for a fleshy, funny, contemporary, personal account of gender dysphoria. Bitingly funny and quick-witted. It was a joy to see Pentheus develop this summer.
