Our newest list comes courtesy of Britt A. Willis, who offers this exciting introduction: "These plays are queer and trans: not just by virtue of their creators (who are all trans/gender non-conforming folx), content, or representation, but in their very form. They belong to what I might, hesitantly, call the New Queer Theatre. I, and many trans creators, believe that traditional, linear narratives and naturalism cannot adequately represent trans and queer stories. These plays buck and fuck with popular Western playwriting traditions, and many are rooted more in post-structuralism, anti-colonialism, or absurdism than Aristotle or the Well-Made Play."
