Our new featured list comes courtesy of playwright Doug DeVita, who offers this introduction: "I love Noir. I love its heightened use of language, I love the chiaroscuro of its twisted, convoluted story-telling, and I love the atmospheric, smoky seediness of it locations and denizens. I love reading it, I love it on film, and I especially love it on stage, because the stage is not its natural habitat. But when Stage Noir works, it works like gangbusters. There are surprising number of Noir, Noir-ish, and Noir-inspired scripts here on NPX; I wish I could recommend them all. But here are a few that have kept me riveted to the page, wishing I could see them staged. Some are short, some are full-length, some are serious thrillers, some are spoofs or comedies, but all have one thing in common: they revel in their Noir-ness with reverence, and the dark glee that makes the genre so irresistible."
