WHITELISTED

Rebecca Burgess is just living her lovely life in her recently renovated Crown Heights brownstone when weird, supernatural shit starts happening to her for no reason she can think of. Of course, the fact that she can't think of the reason is probably why it's happening.

This is hilarious and gut-wrenching and would be awesome to see onstage, especially the fantastic special effects! But more importantly it might get white audiences to recognize our racism in all the very real examples and displays that Hutchinson provides here. It is certainly a conversation starter for a conversation long overdue. Wonderful work!

A terrific piece tackling gentrification and racism in a thrilling horror tale that has you hooked! Well done.

I was fortunate enough to be in a workshop taught by Chisa about how to write characters who hate you, and in this heart-pounding, suspenseful, highly theatrical piece, she brilliantly practices what she preaches. While tackling huge issues like gentrification, performative wokeness, and the dismissal of Black women by physicians, this play remains laser-focused on the characters at its center while delivering legitimate scares and righteous comeuppance. Everyone should read and produce this play!
