I love the way Kantor weaves the fairy tales we all know into a heartwrenching story of recovery. The friendship between these two characters develops so naturally throughout the pages, and their path to recovery isn't always about moving forward—but those setbacks are what make them stronger and push them toward healing.

Ahh so beautiful! Aly Kantor has such an amazing way with words and is able to craft a flawless story with only two characters which manages to be heartbreaking and deep and funny and profound each in turn. This take on the characters of Goldilocks and Little Red Riding Hood is inspired, and I loved the recurring story about the frog and the scorpion. I will follow Aly Kantor’s stories anywhere.

A keen insight into the struggles of eating disorders, body image, and mental health that women frequently encounter in our culture. Aly Kantor brilliantly portrays the mind games, mis-perceptions, and humanity of Scarlett and Gia's journey through in-patient treatment. "I had a psychiatrist, outpatient, who told me that stories wake up a different part of your brain. It’s good for pain and stuff." A bitter and lovely fairytale with strong, resounding truth.

Character Information

Both are adult women, somewhere between 18 and their 30’s. They do not need to be the
same age. Sometimes they both feel older than the earth. More often than not, they both feel
like little children. They are both very sick. They are both completely human.

I do not care what their bodies look like.
