Flor Underwater

In Florida, the water is rising, the climate is changing, and Flor and her children are looking to get theirs before it all goes to shit. With a nod to Bertolt Brecht’s Mother Courage and Her Children, Flor Underwater is a not-too-distant-future re-imagining of America’s loopiest state in crisis as its rednecks, Cubans, Miccosukee Indians, and Mar O Lagans struggle to claim a piece of the state they call home…or...

This riff on Bertold Brecht's Mother Courage is a wild ride with vivid, closely observed characters, precisely-rendered dialogue, and a serious take on the climate crisis. A challenge to stage, but well worth it. Well done, Lori.

A fantastic riff on Brecht that takes a heartbreaking look at the climate crisis. Loved the songs in the play and how they move the story along. Loved how strong Flor is and how she is willing to do whatever it takes to create a stable future for her family. She is a deeply flawed character but you can't help but root for her. All of these characters are looking for ways to exploit people in the face of tragedy. I was so moved by this play and need to see it produced.

This play would be genius in a site specific swimming pool- some innovative company needs to snap this up.
