The Bad in Each Other

A hot fling between the artistic badass we wish we could be and the privileged soyboy we are, evolves into a years-long struggle to reconcile their ambition, ideals, and lust.

What is creative success but a means to betray your ideals?

What is activism if not a means to apologize for privilege?

Can’t we just stay home and watch tv?

An engrossing two-hander about capitalism, activism and art. A gift to actors and directors.

Perez does it again! A deeply engrossing two-hander about art and activism, and which is the real revolution. These two characters are so well-articulated and specific, and their developing relationship sucks you in. This is the kind of play that rewards actors willing to put in the work: I looked up from the page sweating and smiling and happy and sad.

A fascinating pas de deux between two characters, both of whom want justice in the world but want to achieve it in two completely different ways. Should they each stay in their lane, or be more radical in their response to social injustices? Perez skewers SJWs and sellouts alike, and portrays a couple who, as their relationship unfolds over several years, can't live with or without each other. You know that these two probably shouldn't be together, but it's devilishly fun to watch them turn on (and to (and on)) each other.
