Pulsing Pomegranate, I loved this play! So painfully relatable, I now want cheese...cheese...cheese... and chocolate cake with frosted flowers, and I'm a vegan! So well-written and superbly crafted. You don't need to know anything about Hades/Persephone to fully enjoy this play, but it adds an extra layer of delight if you do. Playwright Aly Kantor deserves all the bread bowls for this one.

Kantor brilliantly riffs on Greek mythology to explore the complexities of modern dating and the unfair pressures placed on women. I enjoyed this unique scenario. I could see this short play being done really simply or with real resources put into it. I'd love to see how a set designer would realize a restaurant in Hell. I'd love to see what a costume designer can do with this piece especially when it comes to Hunger. This would be so fun to see performed. Lots of opportunities for physical comedy for Persephone.

Kantor introduces unprecedentedly down-to-earth deities (and a ferocious avatar of voracity) who confront behavioral and bodily ideals as a dinner date determines a dynasty.
