An excellent short play about two women that connect over the jobs they hate. The ending would warm even the coldest of hearts.

During these disconnecting time, Durkee has fashioned a play about connecting. Building connections - even small ones - can be scary. It's both a sweet and real look at the perceived safety of distance coupled with the fears of misinterpretation because a font won't give you clues as to humor, sarcasm, self-deprecation, etc. For anyone who has given a thought as to how you sign off - with Sincerely, Best Wishes or Regards - this play is for you.

Holy crap, do I love this so much. On top of the well-deserved skewering of office-culture frustrations and banalities, this play has a lot to say about isolation, friendship, and the incremental ways humans build connections even from afar. Precise in her observation of behavioral details and emotional nuances, Gillian Beth Durkee gives us full, rich characters, plenty of genuine wit, and emotional payoffs that she earns honestly. Excellent.

I love this play a whole whole lot. And talk about being perfect for this moment! If you're looking for a short play that would work digitally, this is a terrific option. I was so impressed by the heart and pain and camaraderie built into these short pages. And the humor! Read this play then put it up! Great work.
