This short play is a gallon of scalding black coffee poured down the throat -- very strong messages that will jolt a person, not sweetened to suit everyone's tastes, and oh so unforgettable.

Quinn D. Eli raises surrealism and farce to sharp political heights in "Scraps." The tension is high throughout not only because of the initial conflict -- wanting to order food over the phone -- but also because Eli has a lot to say about the racial politics of plays, theatre, and the vicious cycle that begins when a person settles for scraps.

    Unforgettable.

A wonderfully strange short play! Each page builds on the humor while also revealing more depth to create something truly delightful.

Scraps is the perfect ten minute play. It pulls you into this strange, comical world and as it unfolds you begin to question everything about society, race, theatre and yourself. We uncover so much about each character . And the story left me hungry for more of this in theatre.

This play is witty, sharp, biting with real laugh out loud moments. "Scraps" does an incredible job of building and layering various tropes of fantasy and race and shows us what happens when we are no longer satisfied with scraps. When the play ended it left me wanting a full meal. Bravo!
