Mick the Mapmaker

Full-length, no intermission. Mick makes maps, a rare and useful skill in a city where the streets have changed their shape and where nobody can remember their name. A play with stylized language and opportunities for abstract, imaginative, and innovative staging and design.

A deceptively dark story, with a likeable protagonist and a lot of feeling. I found myself drawn to Mick's absolute enthusiasm, and their unique self-expression. Yourd uses language to form the shifted and not immediately understood nature of the world of the play, which is inextricably linked to the main character, the connection they form with others, as well as their ever-changing sense of self.
