A monologue that will relate with many about gym memberships and the relationship we have to our bodies and our self esteem. Well done.

What a great monologue. Very complete in it's story telling. Also you have to love a writer who uses the words, "Grinch Bellies". Partain has a great self-deprecating sense of humor, which she uses to great effect here. Funny, moving and highly relatable.

This short monologue really takes you on a journey with this character. So honest and unapologetic.

Funny, relatable, and ultimately triumphant, "Curves" would be a joy to watch or perform.

MonologueBank is pleased to recommend the writing of Lindsay Partain. CURVES is a pitch-perfect examination of the self-conscious gym-goer. The character SHAYNA articulates her frustration with her own body image, as well as her hesitancy to go somewhere where she will be objectified while she tries to get in better shape. Her wit and razor sharp dialogue is incredibly entertaining and relatable.

A wonderful monologue with an interesting arc that keeps the reader engaged wondering what will come next. Not to mention the lovely phrases like “rain goblins” and “back alley BJ princess” that will make you cackle. Funny, real, touching, and empowering, a fantastic monologue that would be a joy to perform.

An anthem, rallying cry, a wry condemnation of stupid patriarchal b/s and one heckuva hilarious monologue all rolled into one! Partain invites us into the world of this terrific character, winds her up and lets her spin OUT -- saying all the internal musings that any woman anywhere can relate to. This monologue should be posted in the locker room of every gym in America.

YES! I absolutely remember learning to suck my tummy in! This is such a fantastic piece of dramaturgy that takes us from the suck to the gym to the kitchen; from the shame to the pain to the hunger and the love! It goes all the way with the journey, and I am the better for having been on this ride. Thank you! Second helping please!

I love this monologue! The realistic voice that carries us through one of those situations of every day life moments where we realize we are human. Funny and deeply sensitive to those times in life when we have one of those ah-ha reliazations and settle into some carrhesis that's as good as mac 'n' cheese.

This monologue. Is absolutely everything to me. It may be my favorite comedic monologue I've ever read. I love how Shayna is so belligerent and attacks her audience multiple times. I love how unapologetic she is. This is one ferociously FUNNY woman and I would cast a girl who knocked this out of the park in a heartbeat and I would do it with tears of laughter in my eyes. The line where she tries to get the audience to join in and yells at them for not doing it makes me die every time. Read it, use it NOW.
