It’s easy to see why Patrick Gabridge’s play was selected by The Ten Show (Season 2) as one of the top contenders. I watched the short movie made of BEATRIX POTTER MUST DIE! It’s fabulous! A creative, fun story weaving past and present, and getting to the bottom of Ms. Potter’s (possible) inspiration. A truly delightful play to read and watch.

A charming mix of nostalgia and sci-fi. An alternate origin story for Farmer McGregor. Gabridge expertly laces the moving plot with literary references. Sure to be a funny standout to any short play festival.

I produced an audio play version of this script on the radio theater podcast GATHER BY THE GHOST LIGHT after seeing it performed at SUNY Brockport. This play is such a delightful alternative take on the origin of Beatrix Potter's "The Tale of Peter Rabbit". Gabridge ties everything together in such a clever and humorous way. An outstanding script suitable for all ages to enjoy!

Beatrix Potter was a clever writer and this short comedy lets us in on her other abilities. Funny and sweetly Victorian.

Had the privilege of hearing some college students perform this one and now I understand why it's gotten so much attention! It's a great premise with lots of laughs that will no doubt continue to have long life because it's so classic. And how many plays can you tag with "Victorian Comedy"?

I saw a production of this zany show at my university about a year ago - it was a super wild and fun ride! Gabridge leaves a lot of room for productions to play around with props, costumes, and set design. Fun, dynamic characters with a well-used role reversal in the show.

A fun, literary "what if?" of a short play.

The stakes are high, there's strong dialogue and a nice bit of action, and more than a few twists and turns. "Beatrix Potter Must Die!" would be wonderful fun for performer, director, and audience alike.

Gabridge creates an amusing encounter between Beatrix Potter and an angry farmer from the future. Both charming and entertaining, this short play deftly explains the far-reaching impact of children's literature on our ideas about nature while leading its characters to a satisfying conclusion.
