The Aurora Project follows Constantine- an android indistinguishable from human beings, and Nora, a genetically enhanced female explorer, as they begin their voyage across the uncharted universe. When Nora decides to go against Constantine's wishes and visit a strange new planet, she's quickly infected with an incurable virus. In order to delay losing his only companion to death, Constantine decides to subject them both to the phenomenon of cryo-freeze. Thus, the pair begins a kind of chemical induced time warp, spanning millions of years as they wait for the universe to get smarter, and a cure to Nora's illness to be found.

A stunningly-told story of life and death, of light and darkness, of pain and joy… of all the terrible and lovely things we get to experience for being alive. This made me emotional, but not in a crying way, in more of a hopeful way. Nothing is forever, but somehow, everything is forever. This play is moving, speaking poetry. 10/10.

The way time works in this play is so vast, so ephemeral, so frighteningly complex, and yet Poynton weaves it so elegantly within this play. The characters have a tangible fragility, minds that are as different, strange, and also familiar as any person is. The cold infinite of space is captured here, as well as the pain of a dying universe that we mere humans can only try to wrap our heads around.

A beautiful love story that explores the core of humanity, the depth of the universe, and the mythos of time.
