How on earth do you keep within the parameters when your conscience demands you get the answers to bring justice about? An incredibly powerful and riveting drama capturing the journalists who put their lives on the line, the hard choices and the toll it takes on them. Great work.

Behold journalists electronically besieged by devices propagating sights, sounds, facts, so quickly that the news is obsolete before it’s properly evaluated. Their personal and professional lives so meshed that the lines disappear. Do they control the devices or do the devices control them? A family murder in Pakistan, a brutal gang-rape in America: the horror! the horror! Sarah Bierstock effectively dramatizes the moral choices, compromises, culture clashes, career pressures, to accurately portray how we live our lives today.

Premiere Stages, the professional Equity theater in residence at Kean University, is pleased to recognize "Honor Killing," by Sarah Bierstock, as a semifinalist in the 2017 Premiere Stages Play Festival. "Honor Killing" rose through a competitive selection process conducted by Premiere staff and an outside panel of theater professionals over the course of five months to be one of 18 semifinalists out of roughly 400 submissions to the Festival. The panel was particularly impressed by the play's compelling use of technology, and the powerful examination of violence against women throughout the world. Our congratulations and thanks to Sarah.
