Marj's characters are always so fully realized, and this is no exception. The clever story brings two people together who couldn't be more different, yet there is a tremendous amount of humanity as the "common sense" woman tries to help her more "clueless" good friend. Much humor, and the action always seems real, which is Marj's specialty. Very much worth reading.

Marj O'Neill-Butler's considerable talent for creating characters and situations is in full force in this short piece that is delightful and insightful. Never giving in to stereotypes but clearly going after those who breed them is fertile ground, and this play does a fine job. This would be a wonderful piece for two actors to have fun with at any festival.

One of the things I admire most about Marj O'Neill-Butler's writing is her focus on women characters and women's issues. SWAMP GIRL is no exception. Recently produced by Fantasy Theatre Factory's online Short & Sweet Festival, this play deserves everyone's time and attention.

The contrast between Desiree and Mariel contributes to the fun, so does Desiree's being clueless about camping, the Everglades and even s'mores. Nice twist at the end.

A fast-paced, fun-filled romp through the blind date scene. A clever, comical work!

Well this was fresh, and natural, and oh, so vivid. And fall-on-the-floor funny. O'Neill-Butler's ability to create relatable characters and take them to extremes without losing their fundamental humanity is served up beautifully here; one knows these women, one likes these women, and one roots for both of them. A wonderful play with two great roles, this should be a staple on the short play circuit.
