After a futuristic water shortage decimates the American West, three strangers hide out in a cabin located in the Colorado wilderness. A middle-aged conspiracy theorist, a young pregnant woman, and a teenage golden boy care for each other even as their water supply dwindles. Their makeshift family splinters when the boy’s dehydration results in unsettling hallucinations about the natural world, which he insists are visions of the future. All the while, the woman senses a strange presence haunting her every move. The Groundwater explores faith, fear, and the hope of human connection at the end of the world.
