I just read this play for the second time and enjoyed it even more. It is JAM-packed (note derby reference) with fun, interesting roles for women, while also taking us through the main character's personal journey. The dialogue is smart and authentic with a fast-paced rhythm that reflects the Brooklyn backdrop oh so well. I highly recommend!

As a roller derby player myself, I can highly recommend this play as one that truly gets at the heart of one of the most unique sports out there! (NO SPOILERS BUT...) the tattoo scene in and of itself deserves the highest of praise and could stand alone as its own piece. A beautiful, movement-based play that should be produced far and wide!

FOR THE LOVE OF is passionate, funny, sexy, and determined. Being an artist in theater, the concept of doing something for the love of it, and not any for money or success, really grabbed me. The seamless moving in and out of roller derby and life gives the play a fierce theatricality. The dancing! I would LOVE to see this play produced, and with a cast of nine diverse women, it's something that should be going up all over the country. Do yourself a favor and order a copy of this script.... Then produce it in a theater near me!

For the love of a cast of 9 women! For the love of dialogue that feels as fresh as sun chasing fog off the Verrazano. For the love of the spectacle of those 9 diverse women moving as a pack of dancing roller derby-ists! But mostly for the love of the twists and turns that keep this play moving where I least expect it so that I get taken for a fast and fascinating ride!

An incredible work from a playwright that is becoming better and better with each new play. Fun, heartbreaking, unique and beautifully diverse, Femia has created a piece primed for production and I see a lot of them coming its way.

Really glad I was turned on to this play. A wild ride and no doubt a brilliant spectacle in production. Having only read it, I hope I am fortunate enough to see it in production someday.

I'm dying to see a production of this play. Between the brilliantly crafted characters, dialogues and dance sequences it's sure to be an exciting theatrical experience.

A really exciting piece with a strong, funny female ensemble (whose dialogue is lightning-quick), lots of physical storytelling, and a queer relationship at its center. A joy to read!
