This play was a blast to direct, and it folded in so much depth inside the wackiness--our audience went crazy over it, we had sold-out performances and standing ovations because the whole thing grabbed people where they were at and took them on a wild ride that brought them back to see the play again. People laughed, gasped and were completely on board from the get-go. This is a smart, fast-paced, witty work with huge capacity for physical comedy, fight and slapstick if you want to take it up. Do this play, you will not regret it!!!

The wacky plot and delightful language of this play are a ton of fun, and the way that Hardy and Leahy have subverted and played on both Shakespeare's work and the horror genre is fascinating. It's light and quick - give it a read!

Character Information

We want this play to be accessible and useful to as many groups as possible, so we have built some flexibility into the casting. Here are some possible casting adjustments.
● If more roles are needed, the suggested doubling can be reduced or skipped entirely, meaning that James, Tom, Bone, Tiara, Sam, Alex, Cob and Pea can be played by separate actors. This will not require script changes. It is also ok to adjust the doubling- i.e. , switch which professor plays which fairy monarch
● You can also split the Whisper up among multiple actors while still giving each of them something juicy.
● James and Tom can become Janine and Tina. (Note, they must remain a gay couple.) Just use the "Janine and Tina" version of the script, available under the "script sample" slot in "supporting materials." It's not hugely different from the "James and Tom" version, there are just some altered lines in the first scene.
● If Tom/Tina is not cast as white, the reference to his/her race in scene one can be cut.
● Quillian is femme non-binary in this version of the script. If you do not have an actor who can represent that identity, the character may be played as a cisgender lesbian by changing pronouns from “they” to “she,” and cutting the line “It’s “they,” professor!” and the subsequent two lines from scene one.
