What starts out as a seemingly cute and innocuous concept quickly blossoms as Webb holds many surprises up her writer's sleeves. She totally nails "teen-speak" and reveals the difficulties that people of all ages have in trying to communicate.

Borrowing from teen text speak, using emojis brillantly, playwright Jennie Webb has gifted us a fresh take on the divorced parents battling over who's the best parent - a topic that has been explored plenty of times in theatre.
SMILING CAT CANDY HEART will leave a big impact on any audience member that can relate to these parents -- it might inspire a different way of speaking to a child of divorce.
The monologue for the teen girl would be a killer audition or competition monologue.

Fun, funny, unusual - all things I already love about Webb's writing! A timely piece that starts out feeling like a send-up of teen culture, but which soon dives deeper - offering us a window into the teen experience.
