"telling stories is telling your version of the truth" oof. Knocked the wind out of me with that line. This beautiful 10 minute play full of thought provoking discussion and prose keeps reminding me why we tell stories, why we write, and in this case, why we write about telling stories and writing. I'm glad NPX has a recommendation feature, but even if it didn't I'd find a way to recommend it.

A fascinating 10-minute play that makes you feel like a fly on the wall in this conversation between a teacher and student. Lang does an excellent job of conveying the importance of storytelling and writing with these well-written, complex characters.

This 10-minute play reminds one of the potentially life-changing influence that teachers can have on the lives of their students, as Ms. Ellis takes the time to affirm the importance of Sierra's self-hood during an interaction related to the quality of Sierra's classroom work, which reflects deeper problems in the student's life outside of school.
