A taut, tense gut-punch of a play. What Mark Loewenstern is able to achieve in just ten pages is simply amazing -- an intense emotional ride that leaves us shaken and breathless. Bravo!

Mark Loewenstern delivers an unsettling modern take on a classic fairytale. GRANDMOTHER'S HOUSE becomes more and more disturbing as the play progresses and the plot unfolds. While no one is getting eaten and (spoilers) no one is turned into Tang, the truth of what is going on with Renee is a sad reality.

This would be absolutely devastating to see on stage!

Oh I love a good twist of an old tale and this one had me gripped throughout! At the same time it's troubling how grandma's condition is played on. I also love how this great story is left open for us to ponder what happens next. It's left me thinking, which is always a great thing!

This is a tense and weighty 10 minute play. From the first moments you realize that Renee is not who she seems, but you hope for a different outcome. The final exchange with a moment of lucidity from Rose and (possible) remorse from Renee lands perfectly. My high school theatre students performed this play as part of a 10-Minute play festival and the roles were challenging but excellently crafted for them. Very engaging work that the audience responded well to!

A compelling, heartbreaking story, told with emotion that feels so real. Loewenstern's penchant for rhythm and language is so clear here. Who among us wouldn't connect these beautiful characters to someone we know, or knew?...
