In this serious drama, you have an unlikeable protagonist- but she is actually very likeable with her cute twitter and overtly theatricalized Judy Garland scenes. The magical realism of this play leaves much needed breathing space for the audience to recover from the harsh reality of the world. The main theme of learning to choose your own value systems, and therefore your family, strikes me as a relevant and necessary dialogue to have in the theatre. Finally, this show leaves the audience with a bittersweet feeling, a wondering if we need to question ourselves as well as the characters.

Got a chance to read this play and listen to the reading on the At The Table podcast and I've come to the conclusion that this play needs to be produced everywhere. So relevant today in this world where bigoted religious extremists are emboldened to hate more by Trump. It will make you laugh and definitely start conversations. Hannah Langley has done an incredible job finding humanity in such despicable people.

Hannah Langley's play is smart, funny and thought-provoking. The unlikely Twitter friendship between a young woman being raised whose family organizes hate-fueled demonstrations and a young Jewish man who is willing to keep the dialogue open even when he knows the worst. This play gives us a window into an American subculture that we rarely see in drama showing us that sometimes staying engaged and keeping the conversation going is the bravest thing we can do. It's a timely and important piece that treats the divisive issues it tackles with appropriate seriousness.

Participated in a read through of this as part of the Cypress College New Play Festival. This play is funny, thought-provoking and an interesting exploration into accepting the differences in others. It was an honor and a pleasure for the opportunity to work with Hannah on this project.

Wow this is so well done. I've known people raised around this kind of hate and its wonderful how she was shown the truth of her families cruelty. Relevant and moving

This is such a smart, powerful play about religion and humanity. I enjoyed reading it after I saw it being constantly recommended on NPX and enthusiastically add my voice to that chorus. Great play!

This play was just the right length to prove its point. The message of the New Testament is love and tolerance. Without that, a religious message will be empty, threatening, and perhaps cruel. Though you may not like the behavior of a person, this is not a reason to hate the person. That is the message of this play, loud and clear. The dialogue is very clear and the use of the cell phone is effective and relatable. Hannah gets right to the heart of the matter and her irony is unforgettable.

Having seen this play produced, it is POWERFUL when experienced live. Hannah Langley has written a play that faces controversy with tenderness and wit, sans condescension. There are moments of joy, raucousness, hilarity, and sorrow that are conveyed with heart and are enormously effective. If you are looking to put on a play that is entertaining, thought-provoking, and widely appealing, produce this play.

This play is a stunning exploration of faith, hatred, love, and social media in our modern American landscape. Langley’s work is at turns funny, heartbreaking, exciting, and above all, deeply human. She deftly investigates the profound impact of personal connections on deeply held beliefs in surprising ways. Her characters are richly developed and would excite any actor or director looking for stimulating and substantial material. This script received enthusiastic praise during its USC workshop, and is absolutely ready for a full production. This play only becomes more and more relevant!
