On a spring evening in 1986, two young friends, Dani and Charles, meet after a long absence. On the edge of adulthood, Dani now finds something very attractive in Charles, who has long had a crush on her. They exchange intimate stories, and a romantic relationship begins. That fall, two college freshman conclude a movie date by returning to his dorm room. Though they appear to be Dani and Charles, conversation suggests this is a first date and that the two have only just met. Their exchanges are probing and personally revealing. It is only when they begin making love that it is clear they are the same couple, and that this has been a dangerous game. Ten years later, Charles returns to a high school Dani once attended, and asks the high school Librarian for an old yearbook. The Librarian warily assists his search. Through a tense confrontation a decade-long mystery is solved and the true nature of Charles and Dani’s relationship is laid bare.

I heard this play at the Last Frontier Theatre Conference and was *instantly* captivated by its delicately interwoven storylines and beautifully understated dialogue. A fantastic character piece and, with only two actors, a breeze to produce. Give it a read!
