    Unabashedly gorgeous!

From the title with its double helix of irony and earnestness to its pitch perfect ending, filled with infinite possibilities while embracing beauty in the finite, Cross has fashioned a mini-masterpiece.

There is so much to unpack: philosophically, scientifically, intellectually, and emotionally. A great empathy envelops the headiness, devastation, and profound purpose, making everything instantly accessible. Your brain sparks and your heart fills beyond what even the strongest stasis barrier can contain.

I love a beautiful apocalypse, especially when it's accompanied by a lovely genesis, and given to us by characters we can't help but care about.

MONICA CROSS’s science fiction play, “The Beginning of Everything”, offers a view of the possible circumstances of a future where life on Earth has ended and the ‘seeds of humanity’ are to be put on another world. The question arises as to whether the mission has failed or a better alternative should be considered. This play makes you think of our future with hope, concern, and wonder.

This play has a beautiful sadness to it. Humans want so desperately to control their own destiny. Individually and humanity as a whole. But there is a bravery and actually a little intelligence to just leaving it to nature. To chance. Because that is the way magic and life collide. And that is exactly how Dell and Cindi will continue on. Somewhere where magic and life collides. Beautiful.

The stakes couldn't be higher in this thoughtful and moving piece of sci-fi theatre. With minimal elements, BEGINNING expands far beyond its short running time. It has a lot to say about not only the fate of humanity, but the importance of human connection.

Cindi and Dell literally carry the future of human existence in their hands, but how long are they willing to sacrifice their own humanity in order to save it? A tenderly written play about the illusion of hope and the need to let go of the life you were expecting to live in order to live the life you want. Cross explores the beauty and difficulty of moving on from internalized obligation. A moving piece. Gorgeous!

If there is anything good to come out of quarantine, this play is it. THE BEGINNING OF EVERYTHING shows us that sometimes we must let go of the weight on our shoulders and simply live the human experience. Cross's plays are always spectacular in portraying characters with deep emotional bonds and this play is no exception, Cindi and Dell's back and forth will have audience members flying through space right there with them!

May the 4th, May 5: National Astronaut Day, May 6: THE BEGINNING OF EVERYTHING. Cross gives an auxiliary meaning to Mayday. Anyways, if Hubble's Law is not entered into the equation, the playwright reaches so far in every direction by drawing out the treasures of our home. I still fight a private war beyond this sacrificial trek. I won't accept Voltaire's “Perfection is the enemy of the good." However, I'll learn from Cindi's “Perfection is the enemy of the good.” If Hubble's Law was applied, this play would be perfect. In conclusion, "Monica Cross is the friend of the good."
