This is a rad play with rad songs. I love the excavation of the punk mentality from the late 1970s and extrapolating those ideals into the present day. This play portrays deep and complicated characters who are not like me, but are just like me. Life is hard, we all have dreams, some people achieve them, others get close, but in the end we are all confronted by mortality and the realization of what matters most in life.

What a crazy and gorgeous ride does Diana takes us here. Fully realized characters in a world that is both fascinating and terrifying, this play feels like a good rock song, but it hits you like a punk mosh-pit.

WOW, I love this play! It's dynamic and smart and biting and rock and roll from the beginning to the end. The characters are absolutely to die for--you can't get enough of the flawed and self-conscious Slade, the sensual and funny Luisa, the sharp and conniving Kady, the luscious and gross Nigel. The characters jump off the page and demand to be heard. This is a excellently crafted play that is ready to hit the stage. Seeing it would be a rush and a delight. Produce it now and play it near me!

Very real, at least to me. I was also in the music business so it rang true to me.

I was fortunate enough to be a fellow playwright with Diana at the Latino Theater Alliance/L.A. where she developed Fabulous Monsters. What I love about this play is that it showcases compelling women with great dialogue and yet even though it has Latina characters, it's not a race identity play. It's a story about regret and recovery with two women who happen to be Latina living through the unforgivable punk scene of sex, drugs and consequences. Highly recommended.

FABULOUS MONSTERS is so worthy of its many recommendations and accolades. Edgy, funny, sweet, and sad. The relationships between these women are rough and honest -- these roles would be a dream for any actor.

Fierce (in the best way) play about how time tests friendships and your dreams. Sally and Lou are dynamic characters that would be an adventure for any actor to play!

A heartfelt and spectacular portrait of two women who have known the best and worst of each other for years. Diana Burbano's voice bursts forth and makes a joyful noise. The scenes of days gone by and those of the present day blend seamlessly. Sex, Drugs, Punk, and Rock'n'Roll are the background for a great generational tale.

A play I'd be honored to direct, with incredibly strong roles for five actresses and an actor.

A terrific work on so many levels. A great chronicle of two young women growing up in the 1970s L.A. punk scene. A great love story between two people who, to reference Dylan, always did feel the same but saw it from a different point of view. A trip back to a sexy, loud, distorted, and dangerous time too few plays have visited. A swift narrative, both funny and touching, that feels so authentic in its look at rock musicians then and now. Read it and you'll want to produce it.

Burbano rocks! This play is more than just fun -- it has some great songs -- it's also a compelling story about friendship, lost and renewed. The playwright does a fine job building tension between Slade and Luisa, especially in Scenes 4 and 9 --exceptional playwriting. The play is full of surprises, compelling intimacy, and beautiful lines. Hey, artistic directors, produce this play; actors/directors, get this play produced -- a great play for female actors!
