Recommendations of The Morning After (Ten Minute)

  • Charles Scott Jones: The Morning After (Ten Minute)

Really really admire how this satire plays off the unnamed main characters of Albee’s great play. “WOMAN” is often hysterically funny in her awful way and so is “MAN” with his attempts to appease his harridan wife. Favorite line comes from Sonny. “How much has she had, Dad?” Many laughs and the twist ending is perfect!

  • Rachael Carnes: The Morning After (Ten Minute)

This play crackles and hums, deftly embracing a masterwork and turning it on its ear. Donnelly's cool hand, clever dialogue and brilliant set-up would make this one a delight to engage with for any creative team, and a favorite for audiences. Simply delicious writing.

  • Steven G. Martin: The Morning After (Ten Minute)

Good taste? Reverence? Decorum? Screw that -- Paul Donnelly goes well past the line in this tawdry, scandalous, acid-tipped comedy that'll scald an audience's eyebrows.

And, hey, if you're a fan of Albee's plays, you'll enjoy the plot doubly more than usual.

Deftly written and scorchingly funny, "The Morning After" will entertain any fan of the great American playwright whose name I dare not speak in this recommendation. Paul Donnelly's entirely outrageous premise succeeds on many levels. I would love to direct this play, be in this play, experience this play. I could almost smell the scotch from the splintered glass -- the remains of the night before.

A fantastic imagining of the morning after in this beloved classic and it's so very funny. Well done.

What a wickedly funny play! I love the beginning moments, and when they lose it and fall out of character in the middle, and the ending is UpROARiously Funny! I woke my puppy laughing. Donnelly is very precise and sets us up for every twist that all harkens back to the classic we all know. I did not see the end coming, and I am so thankful for that!
