@thespeedofJake is a beautifully written play about grief and what it can do to our relationships. I found this play to be relatable, yet fascinating. I loved the way Maisel was able to portray the star differences between how different people can react to losing a child. I found myself taken on a distressing yet touching journey. I would highly recommend this play.

@thespeedofJake is a fantastically written vision within the brain that deals with relatable topics such as grief, relationships, and moving on. It cultivates much thinking as a reader behind ethics within mourning and how different people react differently in situations. It is both heartwarming and heartbreaking and takes you on a journey throughout. Jennifer Maisel hits it out of the park with this beautiful story, could not recommend more.

@thespeedofjake is one of the most heart wrenching and intense plays I've ever read. It's a realistic story of the emotional toll that losing a loved one can be. Emily and Clark's relationship throughout the show and the way their characters even develop individually makes this play so intriguing and special. I would highly recommend this play to anyone who is interested in starting to read plays.

@thespeedofJake was a heartbreaking but realistic story detailing grief and family relations. Maisel does a wonderful job of exploring the different ways people handle grief. In addition, seeing the contrast and clear character development between Emily and Clark was so exciting! I would recommend this play to anyone looking to find empathy for others who have a different view of the world. Such a great read!

This emotional story of grasping at straws for lost loved ones is heart breaking and relatable. It leaves the audience to question how far technology has the capability to take our society. Will we ever truly be able to communicate with the deceased? Is it ethical to do so even it it could be possible? Is this too much power for the human race to carry? Most importantly, this play shows us that sometimes living in and for the past looses us what is right in front of us. It shows us what is really important in life.

@thespeedofJake is a beautifully written metaphorical play. Maisel created a story of grief, love, and family that explores the hardships of death and the emotions that come with it. With the use of technology and set pieces, it takes the audience on a journey through the emotions of the characters and how they develop throughout the story. Especially the relationships between Jake and Clark, and Clark and Emily. Each line of the play was written with thought and emotion, and will make the audience walk out of the theatre wiping their eyes. I would read this play again and again!

This was one of the best plays I have ever read! From the start, I was drawn in to the complex lives these characters and living along with how they are navigating through hard times. Maisel's play is the definition of real experiences in a world of technology. I really appreciated how each scene prompted what was happening, who was involved, and various props used; this helped me visualize the script consistently.

Grief is impossible to pin down, but how do you tell that to two scientists who recently lost a child? In this beautiful, heartbreaking play, hope is both the cruelest and kindest force. This piece is truly agonizing in its specificity. Maisel has an incredibly precise hand when it comes to knowing where to start and end a scene. The dialogue is natural, showing characters at their best and their worst, and contains some fantastic, truthful monologues that are so relatable that they hurt. The final scene is an inevitable exhale, and very well earned. A challenging, relatable play.
