It is the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's pleasure to recommend Emily Kaczmarek and their play Sam & Lizzie as a finalist for our 2018 National Playwrights Conference. The play rose through a competitive, anonymous, multileveled selection process that took nearly nine months to execute. As one of 53 finalists out of more than 1,4200 submissions, the strength of its writing has allowed this work to prosper in such a competitive selection process.

Premiere Stages, the professional Equity theater in residence at Kean University, is pleased to recognize "Sam & Lizzie," by Emily Kaczmarek, as a semifinalist in the 2017 Premiere Stages Play Festival. "Sam & Lizzie" rose through a competitive selection process conducted by Premiere staff and an outside panel of theater professionals over the course of five months to be one of 18 semifinalists out of roughly 400 submissions to the Festival. The panel was particularly impressed by its specificity, its lovely, surprising dialogue, its powerful sense of truth, and its warm imagination. Our congratulations and thanks to Emily.
