Greg Burdick has written a humorous and disturbing alarm bell of a play with "Insert Token." I loved all the references to the video games we were all addicted to as kids. The explanations of what they were really testing us for is hysterical, and yet it explains so much. Hmm. This one will leave you laughing and wondering at the same time. So well done. By the way - I deleted all the games on my iPhone shortly after listening to this piece. You should too.

The best kind of “futuristic” story is one that you know in your heart is this close to becoming true. INSERT TOKEN is both funny and terrifying, a cleverly conceived cautionary tale that (frighteningly) captures the way we live now—whether we want to or not.

A revealing look at the overwhelming power of technology and how it has taken control. Well done.

Are we all slaves to technology? Burdick sets up a funny, creepy, and intellectual cat-and-mouse game that’s a fun read. We all know our phones are listening... but how far back does this surveillance go? A cool, techy drama that’s a really good time.

This is a wonderfully tense, thought-provoking dark comedy, building steadily with irrefutable logic to a literally shattering conclusion. And it's great, creepy, paranoiac fun.

This is the kind of piece I love to see onstage. A tense two-hander with a sci-fi angle that doesn't seem so sci-fi the more you think about it. And while there can be a tendency to make a tech-driven play seem dry and uninteresting, Greg Burdick keeps the conversation lively and active while feeding you the tech part in a way that is engaging. I loved the idea of what those quarter machines are REALLY for. I played enough of them in my youth to connect with this wonderfully realized short piece.

"Insert Token" is a clever play with engaging characters, high stakes, and a strong message. It's also a game in and of itself, intriguing, engaging, and easy to read.

Wonderfully demonic piece of theatre that should give us all pause. As a luddite who rarely bothers with tech, I LOVE the way Burdick continues to raise the stakes and the tension in this very funny short!

Hits us directly in our technology paranoia - especially the mysterious “cloud”. Greg Burdick creates a situation that feels very real and scary, but couches it with humor. Would love to see this produced.
