If drama lies in characters making choices with high stakes, then John Minigan has certainly captured it here. Is teen Angela overreacting, making an impetuous, emotional choice based on irrational fear? Or are she and her friends making an entirely reasonable, clear-eyed assessment of the dangers and risks they face? And which values will her mother hold strongest to in making her own choice? A nauseatingly relevant drama for our times.

Powerful! "Nitty gritty... in the face of horrors that surrounds us" for sure. Bravo John Minigan for a spectacular script and a super workshop/reading on Back Porch Theater with Miranda Jonte, Stephanie Cearley and Mercedes Marcial. Minigan has created two beautifully "flawed humans" and a generational flipflop in this family of faith faced with drastic shifts in the world today and no other recourse but love. Wonderful.

A difficult dilemma to be sure, but a powerful statement on the world we live in. When 1 in 6 women have been raped and birth control is under assault, it's natural to want to take every precaution while you still can. Well done.

A gut-punch! John Minigan illuminates part of the fallout of the 2016 election that many men probably wouldn't think of; I know I didn't. This play is a perfect illustration of how the highest levels of government affect citizens in the most intimate and violent ways, and dares to follow-through on the bleak consequences of what is already a worst-case scenario. A must-read, especially for Trump-voting parents of women and girls. It should be produced everywhere.

This play needs to be read from the rooftops. Minigan creates such warmth and familiarity between mother and daughter - and the daughter's group-chat community. The fear is all-too real, the scenario terrifyingly prescient. I'm grateful for plays like this one, amplifying the very real voices of those who can't yet vote, but who will pay the price for the decisions that impact them, body and soul.

This play needs so many productions! Minigan captures the feeling of one of the darkest days in recent memory clearly. I also appreciate that this mother actually listens to her daughter and evaluates her beliefs in relation to what's going on in the world. I'm in love with this script and hope to see a production soon!

Powerful and brief. This ten-minute play felt like a punch out of no where and made me tear up while sitting next to strangers on an airplane. The characters are both so thoughtfully put together, and their situation (the one we're all in together) is terrifying looking at it through Minigan's lens. Really thoughtful and lovely work.

I'm absolutely, completely, totally devastated and winded by this remarkable ten minute play. This is the very definition of tragedy. A young woman who isn't allowed to be young any more, who has to grow up so painfully fast because our men are being actively encouraged to be their worst selves. There is so much aching, tender dialogue here. I am moved and I am broken and I am convicted. Thank you for writing this play, Minigan. It's a delicate, mournful whisper of a play that I hope reaches closed off ears around our country.

This is one of my favorite short plays that speaks to living in the Age of Trump. What starts out as an average morning encounter between mother and daughter develops into a necessary story of survival for women who live in fear for tomorrow and the future. Just right for a festival on current themes or a political theatre festival.

Powerful play that makes us uncomfortable in all the right ways! We get so many subtle signals about who this family is and how hard it is for the mother to make this decision, and then Minigan goes one step further - I'm not giving it away - an eventful piece! Well done.
