My God, this play is mad. Tragic for Minky and Billie, and so damned funny for the rest of us. A relationship is on the rocks, so of course, some Chekhov has to bleed in, and WHY DO WE NEVER VISIT GIANT'S CAUSEWAY! This relationship comes with too many strings attached, anyway.

I'm officially in love with everything about this delightful play! I had heard all the rage about Carnes' sock monkeys and NOW I UNDERSTAND. Whimsical and brilliant!

Such a hysterical sock monkey comedy that will leave you in stitches, you won't stop laughing! Well done.

Minky is my new spirit animal. and Rachael Carnes is my new playwright crush. Imaginative, theatrical, hysterical, all in ten minutes. This is great theatre, absurd yet totally believable in its own universe. "Can I visit the paste on weekends?" best line ever. Read it and produce it!!!

I don't often laugh out loud while reading a play, but this one got me. My favorite comedy is that which takes an absurd situation and makes it feel absolutely real; this 10 minute play excels. Carnes's imaginative scenario and fast-paced dialogue turns this breakup into something both touching and hilarious. I would be thrilled to see this performed.

Carnes takes an incongruous situation -- a love affair between a lumberjack kinda guy and a sock monkey and makes it even more fanciful. The sock monkey is the one that plans to leave because the guy isn't paying attention to the monkey's wants and needs -- and the guy gets very upset when the monkey says, "I met someone else. I met him at Build a Bear." Wonderfully imaginative.

We produced this as part of our festival in 2019, it was a definite audience favorite. So much can be done with Minky (she even came to our cast party after). The twists and turns in this comedy slide naturally from soft and personal to over the top and hilarious. Doing more Minky plays is definitely on our vision board!

How can you not fall in love with Minky? I saw a wonderful production of Carnes's short piece at a festival of unusual takes on love. This one explores a love that is indeed very odd, but what is startling is how human and poignant the connection between these two mismatched characters really is. The play takes us on a hilarious journey but leaves us with a lovely sense of loss. Great opportunity for an actor who is really ready to feel their inner sock puppet.

I started chuckling right from the character descriptions. SO original and laugh-out-loud funny. And also sad and sweet and real. I want to read it again right now!! (so I think I will) Loved this piece!

This unique couple's dramatic break-up will make you crack up! Hilarious on the page and hilarious on the stage, this witty farce is a more fun than a barrel of monkeys.
