What a great play for young audiences with a lesson on acceptance (both of oneself and of others) and some math facts as well. I love that the teacher is seen as an all-knowing, larger than life figure by the kids, which is how teachers are so often seen by their students in elementary school.

It's said that everything we needed to know in life we learned in kindergarten, but all the rules of life we learned on the playground at school. Martin's funny and very touching play for children, and adults mind you, comes in all the right doses that will give you a shot of much needed appreciation of friendships and just what a friend means to each of us.

This is a super cute play for kids that doesn't talk down to its audience. There's plenty of humor for grown-ups, too. The kid in me loves the characters' names: Inez Cupcakes, Kiki Pineapple, Victor Mango, etc. This should be a popular piece for children's programs.

I am just loving these characters! And I know audiences will, too! They are so colorful, yet relatable and students will want to be friends with everyone in this show. Even the teacher! I would love to see this as a series or a touring show for young audiences! Well done, Mr Martin. As a performer for young audiences myself, I am extremely invigorated by these plays!

I lost count of the number of times I smiled while reading this. The playwright has a knack for crafting text that is jovially juvenile without being remotely condescending to young audiences. In addition, all of the characters add to the plot and enjoyment of the play. All in all, a splendid spin on the expression "You do the math."

Utterly charming. One of those rare plays that really captures the voice of children.

Inez learns a few life lessons. but you'll have so much fun that you won't even notice you're being taught.

    Super produceable.

Awwwwww, yay! Another wonderful play for young thespians by Martin - With a recurring guest appearance by Kiki Pineapple! Martin's humor and warmth - and respect for the Big Grown Up issues we ask young kids to grapple with - is in full supply in this heartwarming play.

As a former Math teacher, I've tried writing a few Math plays myself...without a lot of luck. But Steven Martin gets the tone right in this short play, perfect for elementary students. Inez is a whiz a Math and the other kids are both amazed and perplexed by her. But is she really any different than, say, the kid who can run faster than any other student? Or the kid who can make up jokes better than any other student? A fun play with some fun lessons.

Here a positive (what would be seen as a strength) is shown as the negative it becomes through the lens of other children, so that we can all understand how a good thing can hurt. It's eye-opening and so true and so digestible for students! A very smart play for young people!
