←Recommendations of A Semicolon is a Double

A beautiful and skillful two-hander about two different boys who discover they aren't that different after all. The play has a sweet, poignant love story at its score and would be a wonderful addition to any play festival.

In a world where supposedly “coming out” has never been easier, Rinkel puts a period on that. He gives us two vastly different but vulnerable teens looking for acceptance. Unexpectedly, they find it in each other. There’s humor, hard truths, and a wish for a more accepting world for all wrapped up in this poignant play. One way to create this new world would be to produce this play. Again and again.

I am so glad this play exists. LGBTQ+ teenagers need all the support and love we can give them. Thank you Mr. Rinkel for writing such a touching and timely play.

It turns out the intersection of baseball and grammar houses unexpected tenderness and hope. In plot, this play uses a semicolon as connector of people, but in the context of a world where coming out is still difficult, this play is a bookmark in the lives of all lgbtq people.

Touching, original, and very heartwarming in all the right ways. Rinkel did an awesome job with shaping these young characters. Worth a read for sure.

A semicolon can join two closely related independent clauses; Rinkel uses this concept to join two closely related yet independent people in a refreshing look at teenage anxiety over orientation. There are moments of great pathos punctuated with punchlines that will stick with you.

A fresh and unique take on gay teens finding the courage to make a connection. A very sweet and endearing play with plenty of tenderness and understanding. Interesting and well written with provocative wordplay. A true home run!

This play does a great job of subverting heterosexual teen rom-com tropes and finding fresh life in them by placing them in a gay context. All of a sudden, they're heartbreaking and heartwarming again.

A sweet and poignant look at the moment of friendship between two very different young people, both of whom are in search of themselves . . . and others who can understand them. Funny and touching, this is a play that could actually open up some hearts and minds that could use a little opening up
