  • Lauren D'Errico: Man of God

Seriously could not stop reading this play - immediately tense from the beginning and only grew to be even more gripping. I admire the specificity and care that Moench wields in creating these complex teenage characters.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Man of God

Wonderfully theatrical play that is killer intense! A great examination of the male gaze from the female perspective and all the ways we are unable to confront it in our g-d-forsaken effed up world. LOVE THIS PLAY!

  • Ely Sonny Orquiza: Man of God

Moench's MAN OF GOD is a gripping story examining the male gaze, patriarchy, the culture of silence, revenge porn, and sexual abuse within the Asian American community in the backdrop of religion. Moench has created five multifaceted characters that are relatable, intelligent and full with humor. I saw the staged reading of this with Magic Theater in San Francisco before its premier in EWP, LA. Highly recommend!

  • Cary Simowitz: Man of God

I just came home from seeing this play produced at East West Players. Needless to say, I will be thinking about it for a looooong time. Like all of Anna's work, this is a play that needs to be produced in as many theaters as possible.

    Bravo Anna!!!

  • Ann Filmer: Man of God

I am obsessed with this playwright right now. Each of these five young girls is here for a different reason. The scenes of how they wish to confront the pastor versus what they actually do shine a light on how hard it is to topple the power structure, as well as how much energy we spend tearing each other apart while the common enemy just looks on. Hilarious and frightening. And it's super entertaining.

This play is brilliant!! It's hysterical while being heartbreaking and so tense. The characters are so multi-faceted and the ways they deal with the situation they face will surprise and move audiences. This is play needs to be produced. Anna Moench needs to be produced everywhere.

  • Interact Theatre Company: Man of God

MAN OF GOD was a finalist for InterAct's inaugural New Play Development Award. Out of a record-breaking 432 submissions, we were struck by the playwright's examination of how the patriarchy internalizes in young women through vibrant language, compelling characters, and fantastical theatricality.
