This leaves a lot of questions for me. Is the story science fiction or just two peoples' fantasy? Fun to read. It took me a bit to get into the rhythm of the dialogue, so I think it will take a couple solid actors to make this work. Fun idea worth exploring on stage.

Interesting and unique world creation. The story is a good one with lots of fun twists and turns, the dialogue is poetic and stylized and the characters are one of a kind. A short piece with great dynamics this would be interesting to watch on stage. Very well written!

What begins as a dramatic two person play between a couple in a motel room takes an interesting science fiction turn that will put you on the edge of your seat. This would be a great piece for an actor and an actress to work on. It will keep an audience engrossed the way it kept me engrossed. Well done!

Well that was absolutely bizarre, but compellingly imagined and hysterically executed. Robbie Ray and Loodie start out seeming like a typical couple from a honky-tonk, love gone wrong melody, but turn out to be something else entirely. Something else. Entirely. Their overwhelming mutual attraction makes them irresistible to one another and the lunatic energy of this play makes them irresistible to us.

My Lord. What started out sounding like an overly cliched potboiler of a play takes one of the sharpest left turns I've ever seen on stage. Suddenly everything you were thinking is turned on your head and you realize you're in the hands of John Adams truly strange mind. Shock turns to awe and then you find yourself laughing at the most horrible things but you can't stop. Read it -- read it ALL the way though!

Oh... to spend 10-minutes inside of playwright JOHN ADAMS' twisted and wonderful brain...

Experiencing this warped and hilarious short play at the 2023 Midwest Dramatists Conference was a my true pleasure. ADAMS' use of language, rhythm, and humor is truly masterful. The colorful world of honkey-tonks, motel rooms, and southern society play out in the most out outrageous ways possible.

I felt curiosity. I felt cringe. I felt awe.

    Thank you, JOHN ADAMS.

The way country music singers tell it, their lives are all heartache with nothing but drugs to ease the pain and help them get over bad marriages and lost loves. John Adams cranks this set-up to eleven and then hits the warp drive to bring in elements that take us way beyond the honky-tonks... like to the outer reaches of the solar system and gas giants. It's clever, fast-paced, shocking, hilarious, cringey, and above all, a tale that Johnny Cash or Hank Williams never sang about. Or could hope to.

I was absolutely blown away by the brilliant writing of John Adams. After I saw this, I asked him what he was smoking and if I could please have two! Simply the most original and innovative thing I've seen in a long time. This play will not be for everyone, and it is not exactly family friendly. It does touch upon, among other things, drug use, infidelity, "fondling", cannibalism, inter-species erotica, and extraterrestrial conquest. Damn, what a ride! Thank you John. I will never forget your play!

Okay, language lovers with a taste for the absurd, the fantastical, and the hilarious, be advised: If you aren't prepared to be wowed by stylized dialogue that mesmerizes while telling a story that makes you laugh out loud and simultaneously tugs at your heart-strings, then you read this at your own peril. I discovered this gem at the 2023 Midwest Dramatists Conference, where it was a hit -- and it still has me smiling thinking back on some of its many masterful moments. So well done!

This is an extraordinary piece of writing; packed with atmosphere and some wonderful names and then.... well, it gradually transforms into something unexpected as John Adams imagination transports us into a world of dark fantasy fiction. It's impossible not to find the whole piece utterly enchanting, surprising and completely entertaining. This is a treat with its tongue firmly in its cheek. Bravo!
