The Down-Low Dating Show works excellently well as a comedy sketch, playing with the form and commenting on gay (and DL) desire dynamics in a tight, concise package. I could see a cast having a lot of fun bringing these characters to life, and Steve gives each contestant something fun to work with.

This little quickie of a play takes the game-show premise to new heights (or lows?!). Pay close attention to what the characters are doing even they're not speaking--Steven G. Martin layers satire on satire to skewer assumptions about desire. I laughed out loud.

Such a funny premise and well-executed. The title alone was enough to get me to select it for a read. Clever, great setup and exposes some of the foibles of marriage and sex. For a short play, it was a packed package, pardon the expression...

The crushing weight of heteronormativity, the societal pressure of monogamy, the limitations of a "either/or" definition of the sexual spectrum-- all spun up and satirized in a dating game within five minutes! Martin's skill with dialogue creates a full world in such a short span of time. Very impressive work!

It's all fun and games till....well, forever, in this clever satire of dating shows. In THE DOWN LOW DATING SHOW, playwright Steven G. Martin deftly skewers the genre, cheating men, and lying men, with wit and sparkle. Would love to see this performed. Read it, produce it!

A hilarious parody dating show that hits the target and is sure to get many laughs! Well done!

This is just too funny! Martin's penchant for zippy dialogue is in full form here - I was even chortling to myself on the landing page. These bonkers characters leap from the Reality TV genre, and bat around each other like a pack of craven contemporary commedia del arte players. I heard the emcee as Chuck Woolery, and as I read, memories of thousands of hours watching shows like this came flooding in. What fun this would be for a creative team to sink their teeth into - tons of comedy fodder.

This is so much fun, I was laughing beginning to end, several laughs a page. A perfect parody of dating shows, some raunchy humor, but it's not slight even though it's short -- says a lot about gay culture and the larger culture that permits down low hook ups and cheating. Perfect for a gay comedy fest.

Parody done as only Martin can! With lots of humor and great jokes. And all in five pages!!!! Well played.
