Kara Emily Krantz's 'inValidated' is a mesmerizing real-time experiment and intimate mission to vindicate Katherine's thoughts and feelings within a male-dominated family dynamic that easily and readily dismisses them. Reminiscent of Caryl Churchill's 'Heart's Desire' with its (re)attempts to find a happy medium among myriad forces vying for dominance. A rousing tale of perseverance, tense with anticipation, teasing endless possibilities for (mis)understanding, one cheers Katherine's expression.

KARA EMILY KRANTZ spoke to me in a profound way in her full-length masterpiece, “inValidated”. We’ve all heard how men don’t understand woman. A man becomes his own hero, as the provider of food and shelter, but he too often takes in and ‘understands’ what’s happening only through his eyes. A woman is ‘too emotional’ or ‘ungrateful’ if she tries to tell her male partner something about HER NEEDS. This is an awesome play, and I wholeheartedly recommend it. BRAVO!

inValidated spoke to me on so many levels. On what it's like to be a woman. What it's like to be a daughter. What it's like to be betrayed by a partner/parent/sibling. The broken family dynamics and constant gaslighting are almost as painful for us to endure as it is for Katherine. The meta-aspect and spoken word devices provided a fresh sense of theatricality and innovation. Beautifully crafted.

inValidated is theatrical in its essence with language is compelling and beautifully crafted. It’s engaging, intense, and filled to the brim with pain and anger. The ending is especially strong and gave me a palpable sense of closure. It would make for a powerful evening of theatre!

This play is poetry - sometimes literally and sometimes figuratively, but it's beautiful throughout. The character of Katherine is a strong woman speaking her truth, which resonates with me, as I'm sure it will with many who see, hear, and read this play. Check it out!

Somebody produce this play so I can pay to go see it! No kidding and pretty please. I saw a reading of this piece last year and boy did it rock my world. Okay...a play about family angst. I know, it's been done and done. But the ingenious theatricality of the storytelling paired with the absolutely identifiable-to-anyone-with-a-family-but-wholly-specific-to-this-family dynamics are a joy and heartache to witness. This is a triumph. Now...somebody put that cast on a stage with rehearsal, a set and costumes.
