←Recommendations of SOONER THAN YOU THINK (full length) (All-puppet version coming up!)

This is a play with seemingly all animal characters. A wolf, rabbit, crow, and a flower join forces to save their Homeland and bring back their families without the help of humans. It starts off as a darkly comedic tale, but ends on a note of hope that seeks to redeem the species it has been largely cynical about the whole time: humans. The audience is truly an integral character of this play and its the call to action at the end for humans to fight for a better world is powerful.

Some unlikely characters come together to tell a story and try to stop the devastation of the Homeland before it's too late. But how to communicate with our human neighbors when -- for all our "big brains" -- we're all just too busy trying to stay alive? The metaphors of this piece are beautifully crafted and the urgency of climate change punctuated by tragically beautiful sound effects. I especially appreciated the authorial voice of Clem: "If the story goes to the dark side, we're all doomed." Brava, playwright. I hope it's not too late.

Every culture has tales of the beginnings of time - of how the natural wold came to be. Rice has given us a vision of the end of times - with a view from the wonders we share our world with. It’s a tough and realistic assessment. Framed with gorgeous visuals, love of the natural world, and an all-knowing cast of characters, Rice dishes up hope side-by-side with a caveat - it’s almost too late but not too late. Appropriate for families, and ripe for discussions. When will it be too late?

This play would be great for a troupe like Bread & Puppets, or Arm Of The Sea - it's nature-based and the elements of the theme are anthropomorphized in ways that remind me of B&P's "The Apocalypse Defiance Circus".

Thrilled to be able to recommend this climate change fable that was developed at the WriteNow Workshop where I had the privilege to see the wolf, rabbit and crow come to life. I love the crow's costume. Rice is a very visual thinker and her images - whether written in the beautiful monologues or mentioned in stage directions - are fantastic!

No one anthropomorphizes better than Robin Rice, and very few can match her for poetic urgency. Both enchanting and devastating, “A Wolf, A Rabbit, and A Crow...” is a fable for our times, and a damn good one at that. A beautifully harsh, ultimately hopeful work of art.

The most devastating threat to our survival is neglecting the environment. We deliberately refuse to educate ourselves for fear it'll impede our short sighted goals. And the result will be a barren wasteland with nothing to eat. How do we get people to listen and especially those who are our future? We turn to the maestro playwright Robin Rice. If anyone can save our planet with a pen, she can. This play is so alive and engaging, a fairy tale to save our planet and a brilliant one at that! Bravo!
