An unlikely take on an old myth. Bavoso takes us on a humble but potent journey which zeroes in on how frightening change can be, even if that change means personal freedom. And what luck, we get to laugh along the way!

Bavoso turns Prometheus Unbound into a tale of friendship and anti-heroes. And it all makes sense. Who doesn’t love routine even if it means getting your liver eaten daily? I am hoping Bavoso rewrites all of Greek mythology. If it is in the vein of Prometheus Shrugs, future students of Greek mythology will thank him.

I love when a playwright can take a well known tale and flip it on its head. John Bavoso does that and then some with Prometheus Shrugs. Putting us in the shoes of the titan Prometheus and the bird sentenced to an eternity of eating liver, Bavoso has written an exceptionally charming and quirky comedy about friendship and the comfort of predictably. A perfect blend of heart and laughs, Prometheus Shrugs would be a highlight of any short play festival.

A playful take on the Greek myth of Prometheus that surprisingly speaks to us today about friendship. It makes you think about the beauty of predictability and routines of friendship. This would be a hit at any festival on myths (esp Greek myths) or any comedy showcase. This is a perfect comedy with the liveliness of a David Ives short play. The hugging in this play -- it's so sweet!!! This would be a fun, challenging play for beginning design and costume designers in high school and college.

An ancient Greek myth with all of today's sensibilities. Some very funny lines in this along with commentary about friendship. Bavoso does it again.

This play is loaded with wit! Such a creative idea, I never even considered the poor bird who Zeus had also inadvertently condemned and it’s relationship with Prometheus. A uniquely endearing show that is so easy to imagine playing out on stage.
