There are some people that have to ruin your day - or try. This succinct one-minute play, ANTAGONISM, or SOME PEOPLE LIKE TO P*SS IN THE POOL, by Steven G. Martin, not only has a title almost as long as the play, but will have a lasting effect on you, too. Martin nails it on the head.

I don't even know how to get started on a play, much less write a one-minute play. But Steven does and handles it wonderfully. I've read several of his one-minutes and have learned from them about getting to the point of what you want to say. Thanks for the tips.

I adore Steve Martin's 1-minute plays. ANTAGONISM, OR, SOME PEOPLE LIKE TO P*SS IN THE POOL is no exception! It is full of whismy and full of life lessons. It is economical in it's language and full of fantastic physical storytelling. Wonderful!

Steve Martin, the master of the 1-minute play, does it again with this wonderfully theatrical and pointed play about people who enjoy life and those who absolutely. Effing. HATE. That. Don't let the balloon-poppers get you down.

An absolutely charming little piece. Again, Mr. Martin captures a startling amount of feeling in barely a minute. Perfect title.

I was so charmed by the visual elements of this short play, but even more than that, I was struck by the message that while you can't control how others behave, you are ultimately in control of how you let their attitude shape your experiences and worldview. As for me and my house, we're gonna keep reinflating the balloon. Wonderful work!

This play perfectly sums up social media, without even mentioning social media! If someone likes their balloon, let them like their balloon! There should be more balloon sharing and less balloon popping in this world. Thanks for the reminder, Steven G Martin!

A pointed statement about “to each their own” wrapped up in a short and sweet bow. This micro-play has shades of Chicago’s Neo-Futurists, which is a huge compliment. Visual, full of action, emotional... all in one minute. Quite a feat, and one Martin excels at.

To me, this play shows how people can heal from their individual traumas through forming a community. It's a beautiful little piece and would be powerful on stage! I'd love to see it!!

Every now and then we need a reminder not to let the negativity of other people get to us, especially when that negativity isn’t just an attitude or aura, but a full frontal assault. Joyous in its symbolism, pratical and theatrical in its staging, and clear in its message, “Antagonism” also provides a touchstone to help shape our lesser impulses whenever we’re engager of being the one who pisses in the pool.
