Very funny and well written. Great story line and the characters are well played with wonderful dialogue moments. A male ladybug, tap dancing, dim fireflies, an actual praying mantis and a soulful Daddy Long legs - what more could anyone want in a short piece?? Great idea for all ages.

Simultaneously silly and heart-warming, "In the Jar" was selected as part of our student-directed one-act play festival and was well received by the audience, and the cast and director had a blast working on it. It's had to find a slightly large-r cast for 10-minute plays and this play offers great opportunities for a variety of actors.

IN THE JAR is hilarious, the insect version of Guardians of the Galaxy, only they're out to save themselves. The wonderful idea of 2 lightning bugs, a praying mantis, a daddy longlegs, a cricket, and a male ladybug trapped together in a glass jar is only exceeded by the confident execution of their interplay. The jokes manage to be familiar, unexpected, and perfectly timed. The verbal humor combined with the homespun special effects - I imagine - brings down about any house where IN THE JAR plays. Mark Harvey Levine is a writer's writer.

Absolutely adorable and funny. Audiences will love to see the various "bugs" doing what bugs do and eventually, working together. A great bit of physical comedy will have the audience roaring. Who knew you could fit so much fun into a jar?!

Totally delightful and very funny and theatrical play with six utterly engaging, charming and completely believable insect characters. Would be so much fun to see!

A nice mix of prison tropes and character archetypes to explore life on the inside... of a jar of bugs. Particular praise for the 'lifer' Daddy(-o) Longlegs, edgy fireflies, defensive cricket, and pious mantis. Moves along at a crackling pace as this disparate band come together to battle the consummate bugs-in-jars problem: a lack of airholes.

Entertaining as hell just reading it, this play is hilarious onstage, which I got to see at Madlab's Theatre Roulette a few years back. Mark Harvey Levine never fails to delight.

Bugs in a jar who are more interesting than most humans. Very funny and clever and original.

This very funny play (um...) fleshes out an assortment of imprisoned bugs through crisp and delicious dialogue that ponders many things, including death, justice, murder, and escape.
