Fantastic! Smart, fast-moving, funny. A play that's about everyday office stuff and so, so much more. Simple sets, complex characters, and an inside look at the way a word can change everything in today's world. Loved it!

  • Gilbert Girion: Webster's Bitch (Full-Length)

This is a terrific play. What starts out as light, funny banter slowly but surely turns out to be loaded with landmines, where words are dangerous and often meant to kill. I felt myself pulled in a dozen different directions, siding with this or that character. The back and forth war of words are riveting, often nail biting. We're never sure how this is going to finally turn out. Lucky for us Gwen, our moral compass, returns for that very satisfying ending.

I am grateful to Webster’s Bitch for introducing me to the work of lexicographers as they try to modernize their profession while still being stuck in the everyday work place struggles of seeking proper pay and notice. Fun and fast-paced, it shows how easy it is for words to get out of hand in our over-connected world of communication.

  • Nick Malakhow: Webster's Bitch (Full-Length)

A spectacular, witty, fast-moving, and incisive play about language, gender, the wage gap, and the big-little battles of everyday office life. Gwen is such a fully fleshed out character with an incredibly dynamic journey--and every other character in this wonderful ensemble piece is just as human and rounded as well. The propulsive movement of the play never lets up as well and Bircher balances tension and comedy wonderfully. I'd love to see this fully realized onstage!

More of what I loved in the short version of this play, now new and improved and still funny as all get-out!!! This play, and Bircher's attention to language in all of its variations, is highly enjoyable and should be produced repeatedly!

I had the pleasure of viewing a reading of this play as part of Occupy The Stage 2020 (Women's Theatre Festival). A funny, thought-provoking and tightly paced play. Great deep-dive into the wacky world of dictionary writing, and a nuanced look at gender politics. Loved it!

A fantastic play about gender bias, protocol and the English dictionary. Rightfully scathing in it's takedown and hilarious! So happy to see the full length version as I wanted more after the one act. This delivered! Well done!

My friends and I read this play tonight as a group. We thought this play was thought-provoking, funny, and original! The dialogue is all brilliantly written, and the characters are dynamic. The challenges these people face in the work place are very real, and it's written with nuance and zest. Definitely recommend!
