Recommendations of AN ABUNDANCE OF CAUTION, A Play for Videoconference

  • Cheryl Bear: AN ABUNDANCE OF CAUTION, A Play for Videoconference

A hilarious comedy in the middle of Covid where we distantly check in with each other and find out the answers to questions we never knew. It's the effort that counts as we find ways to be with each other. Well done.

  • Cassie M. Seinuk: AN ABUNDANCE OF CAUTION, A Play for Videoconference

This play is delightful and yet gets at the core of what it is like to communicate with the outside world today while quarantined. As an extrovert who thrives off of contact with others this play resonates with me. I found myself smiling and then being hit with the sadness of the lack of connection between Finn and Charlie, no matter how hard they try, they are apart.

  • Toby Malone: AN ABUNDANCE OF CAUTION, A Play for Videoconference

So many quarantine Zoom plays self-consciously incorporate the medium without really acknowledging the absurdity of the situation: Rachael Carnes, however, embraces the isolation mania with a series of pithy, incisive, insightful one-liners that gets right to the heart of the hopelessness of the new world. My favorite part: the questions and abrupt answers that pepper this lovely little play are all established as being a product of only four days in isolation. I'd love to see the same characters after four months!

Witty dialogue, timely, and fun. Simple to stage and I would love to see to actors Zooming this play!

  • Arianna Rose: AN ABUNDANCE OF CAUTION, A Play for Videoconference

Rachael Carnes is my spirit animal. Her imagination amazes and delights, and her dramatic flair sets her clear above the pack. This short play is no exception and probably the only one I would ever read about our current circumstances. Bravo for another hit!

  • Elisabeth Giffin Speckman: AN ABUNDANCE OF CAUTION, A Play for Videoconference

Charming and captivating. I find myself oddly comforted and haunted by Finn's relentless questioning, which seems just about right for these current times. Would be a fun role to play for an actress of any age.

"An Abundance of Caution" is gem in the face of quarantine and lack oh physical and social closeness. The characters are dealing with more than they can handle, which causes them to be unable to connect. Zoom is not the "next best thing to being there." This playwright is rightfully known for her snappy dialogue and humorous imagery. Perfect addition to any short play festival, especially in the current time.
