Recommendations of The Actress - One Act Play

  • Arianna Rose: The Actress - One Act Play

The Staten Island Ferry is a pretty straight ride between two points, but THE ACTRESS has enough twists and turns to give these actresses some seasickness! Clever, funny, a throwback to film noir and glamour and style. This was such a fun read and would be so enjoyable to watch on stage. Juicy roles for two women to sink their teeth into. THE ACTRESS deserves a standing ovation!

What a fun cat-and-mouse play. Two grand role for actresses, a whodunit, clever dialogue, theatre, and the Staten Island Ferry. Who could ask for anything more?

Interesting setting and nicely written. Dialogue is excellent and the characters are well formed. I could hardly wait for the denouement! A nice strong read.

Excellent play, perfect setting, very crisp dialogue could see the characters so clearly as I read and ending with a lovely twist.

This was a delightful noir play full of wit and surprises with 2 juicy female roles. I'd love to see this performed.

The fog horn sets the tone in Ryan Kaminski’s THE ACTRESS establishing a noir ambiance befitting a ferry ride shared by a murderess actress and her blackmailing maid. Snappy dialogue accompanies the voyage as these two banter on who knew what when and where is such and such hidden. It’s all great fun and the possibility of both getting what they want is dangled until one character is revealed to have performed a standing ovation worthy performance. Great work!

What a clever mystery set aboard the Staten Island ferry. An accomplished actress with a dark secret and her maid who knows too much. What fate awaits the maid when they dock in Manhattan?! No spoilers here! Enjoy this one for yourself!

  • Jessica Feder-Birnbaum: The Actress - One Act Play

Film Noir meets Screw Ball Comedy in this nail biting, fast pace one act set on the Staten Island Ferry. The ending was a zinger which I did not see coming. I highly recommend THE ACTRESS for anyone looking to cast two strong female actors. Age range can be flexible and this play would be great in a wide range of theatrical settings.

  • Tom Moran: The Actress - One Act Play

A well-crafted little mystery with solid and unexpected twists. Despite the contemporary setting, it has a very noir feel to it: it's basically femme fatale versus femme fatale, which is a nice spin on the usual format, plus means two strong roles for women. Overall an absorbing piece with a worthwhile payoff(s).

The Staten Island Ferry is a great setting for a murder mystery, and once again, Ryan Kaminski demonstrates a good command of the genre. The characters are well drawn, the dialogue is sharp, and the intrigue is maintained from the first page to the last. I especially liked the theatre and acting references. Well done.
