CUBIST RODEO CLOWNING

by Charles Scott Jones

10-Minute Play: A good intro. to CSJ's absurdism. A librarian, preparing for a quiet evening at home, must defend against familiar home invaders: her rodeo-clowning older sister and her painter ex-boyfriend.

I love absurdist plays, and if it's got a heap of physical comedy, even better. Cubist Rodeo Clowning checks all the boxes and then some. A terrific twist ending and last line, really unique characters, and yet a relatable premise for many. I loved the vacuum monologue. Playwright Charles Scott Jones has an original mind that writes truly unique, memorable plays, and we're all the better for it. Giddy-AP!

This short play will keep you on your toes! It flows along on a river of absurdity and ends with the perfect button. I particularly loved Briar's mini-monologue praising the joys to be found in vacuuming. This short is a ton of fun!

There can never be too much absurdism in your life and this play fits nicely into that side of life and it's laugh out loud funny which is always a very big plus. Charles Scott Jones gives us a masterful play that is crafted beyond just the framework that he's working in and gives us a study of the human condition as any good play should.
