A somewhat nervous film student has the opportunity to interview her childhood idol in a Zoom chat. Turns out they both have faced self-esteem issues from being considered “less beautiful.” For Marnie, the former child star and horror queen, the pandemic provided the perfect escape, voiceover work from a home studio. Jacquie Floyd-Priskorn, via film student Raven, imparts a valuable lesson in self acceptance, and both characters get more out of the interview than they could ever have imagined. Zoom theater is still going on. This play deserves more exposure!

Zoom and Zoom plays have become a big part of our lives in recent years so its always good to find a well written Zoom play, and this is a prime example. Having read Jacquelyn's plays before, I know she builds characters incredibly well and they always have very independent voices and characteristics, which is present here. I also love the way we, as the audience are presented with a snap shot of what a career in the arts is like. You also have the unexpected twist of the fear of 'getting back out there'. Its a fabulous play!

A lovely moment of connection. It's nice to think of taking new ways of connection from the pandemic moving forward. Whatcha Doin is a sweet story of two voices from the fringes of what is cool, or the norm connecting, helping, advocating, and listening. Fun! Goofy! Sweet! It hugs your heart for sure.
