  • Morey Norkin: Whatcha Doin? *A Zoom Play*

A somewhat nervous film student has the opportunity to interview her childhood idol in a Zoom chat. Turns out they both have faced self-esteem issues from being considered “less beautiful.” For Marnie, the former child star and horror queen, the pandemic provided the perfect escape, voiceover work from a home studio. Jacquie Floyd-Priskorn, via film student Raven, imparts a valuable lesson in self acceptance, and both characters get more out of the interview than they could ever have imagined. Zoom theater is still going on. This play deserves more exposure!

Zoom and Zoom plays have become a big part of our lives in recent years so its always good to find a well written Zoom play, and this is a prime example. Having read Jacquelyn's plays before, I know she builds characters incredibly well and they always have very independent voices and characteristics, which is present here. I also love the way we, as the audience are presented with a snap shot of what a career in the arts is like. You also have the unexpected twist of the fear of 'getting back out there'. Its a fabulous play!

A lovely moment of connection. It's nice to think of taking new ways of connection from the pandemic moving forward. Whatcha Doin is a sweet story of two voices from the fringes of what is cool, or the norm connecting, helping, advocating, and listening. Fun! Goofy! Sweet! It hugs your heart for sure.

An intriguing glimpse into two disparate lives, each unconventional in its own way, who make an unexpected personal connection in the age of Zoom. Jacquie Floyd-Priskorn uses the particular limitations of this medium of virtual theatre to good effect as she demonstrates the ways we have adapted to life in lockdown. The hopeful play, set after the pandemic ends, underscores the need to keep our human relations alive for our own sake as well as others’.

JACQUELYN FLOYD-PRISKORN’s play, “Whatcha Doin? *A Zoom Play*, mixes a little nostalgia, a bit of humanity, a dollop of fear, a spoonful of hopefulness, a pinch of ambition, a taste of fame, and some shyness. Such an enlightening view of life in the entertainment world as expressed by a former child star turned voice over actor. This is a must-see Zoom play, and one I highly recommend.

  • John Busser: Whatcha Doin? *A Zoom Play*

Jacquie Floyd-Priskorn shows how a simple conversation can change a person's outlook for the better in this delightful play. We sometimes forget how life events can overwhelm even those who appear to have a charmed life, as Jacquie shows us Marnie, a woman who's early success had lasting repercussions and who now uses the pandemic as an excuse to hide. Her lifeline back comes in the form of a young fan who makes Marnie realize that we all have a need to find out "whatcha doin?" in regards to others. Heart-warming but has an impotant lesson to tell.
