What fun it must be to have your own chorus, if only for a day! I, for one, would relish the chance, if only to test them, to see if they can really know or keep up with my emotions (good luck with that!)
Lisa gives us two wonderful characters, the annoyed and confused Leslie and the super enthusiastic Jordan, doing his best to brighten his clients day.
Something tells me these two will have a great day together!

So much fun! A clever slice-of-life short that is definitely cut from a fantastic place. Funny throughout, Lisa Feriend gives us a tale of a disappointed vacationer and a downsized chorus.

Leslie certainly doesn't know she needs a chorus at the start of this delightful two-hander. Jordan thinks having a chorus providing florid narration is always good for what ails ya. Their journey to equilibrium is filled with witty misunderstandings and dialogue at cross purposes.

This is a beloved short for good reason - mostly how L D Feriend lowers the stakes for needing a chorus to the farcical when Leslie gets stood up by a girlfriend. THE BALLAD OF LESLIE hilariously skewers a tradition in tragedy exemplified by Sophocles' Electra, who has her own chorus too - but much more to complain about - and more recently Sheila Callaghan's heroine in Everything You Touch. BALLAD relates at an ordinary human level. Sometimes life sucks and it helps to have someone who gets your sad and puts it out there for the world to hear.

I didn't know "professional chorus" was something that I wanted in my life until after reading this play. I found myself being completely won over by Jordan as Leslie was and couldn't help but smile at the end of it. This would be a great piece to show off some skilled comedic actors in any festival or competition.

"The Ballad of Leslie" is a sweet and fun two-hander that lifts the spirit. A classic theme with a modern setting that will leave audiences smiling. Nice addition to a short play festival.

Its always lovely to find a play that tickles you right from the beginning and that was the case here. I could completely sympathise with the central character and her frustration at her girlfriend and then the writer made all my frustrations go away with the entrance of Jordan. Everyone should have a chorus in their lives and this play definitely needs to be done!

A wonderfully funny, endearingly bizarre everyday moment meets EPIC called The Ballad of Leslie will be a great hit at festivals! I enjoyed meeting Leslie and her chorus. I LOVE a chorus, even if it(they?) has been decimated by brutal budget cuts. (And on a personal level to Lisa, I bet Leslie would be a good friend to Cinderella. I hope they meet one day!)

This is an utterly charming, whimsical piece full of sharp dialogue about what we need to make it through some days. I only wish the service actually existed.
